Anyone who believes that the Indian one-horned rhinoceros only existed during the age of Jurassic Park needs to visit Kaziranga. More than 2200 Indian one-horned rhinoceros, or roughly 2/3 of the species global population, call Kaziranga National Park, a 430 square kilometre area dotted with elephant-grass meadows, swampy lagoons, and dense forests, home. The park is one of the most popular wildlife vacation spots in India. The park, which was established in 1908 on Mary Curzons advice, is situated on the outskirts of Golaghat and Nagaon district, two of the Eastern Himalayan regions biodiversity hotspots. The park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. The wife of the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon of Kedleston, Mary Curzon, reportedly visited the park but was unable to locate even one Indian one-horned rhinoceros. Then she convinced her husband to start making plans for their preservation in order to take immediate action to save the endangered species. The Kaziranga Proposed Reserve Forest was established in 1905 with a total area of 232 km2 (90 sq mi) following a number of meetings and documents. Elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer are among the other animals that breed in the park along with the famous Greater one-horned rhinoceros. Kaziranga was designated as a tiger reserve in 2006 because to the fact that the tiger population there has grown over time. In addition, BirdLife International has designated the park as an Important Bird Area for the conservation of avian species. In particular, during the winter season, birds such as the lesser white-fronted goose, ferruginous duck, Baers pochard duck, lesser adjutant, greater adjutant, black-necked stork, and Asian Openbill stork migrate from Central Asia. Although the origin of the term Kaziranga is uncertain, there are several hypotheses based on local records and folklore. According to one myth, a young man from Karbi Anglong named Kazi and a female from a nearby hamlet named Rawnga fell in love. The pair went into the forest, never to be seen again, and the forest was named after them because their families did not approve of their relationship. In accordance with a different version, Srimanta Sankardeva, a Vaisnava saint-scholar who lived in the sixteenth century, once blessed the childless Kazi and Rangai and instructed them to create a sizable pond nearby so that their names would endure. According to certain traditions, the Ahom king Pratap Singha once passed through the area around the seventeenth century and was particularly taken by the flavour of the fish. When he inquired where the fish originated from, he was told that it came from Kaziranga, providing further evidence of the names lengthy history. The Karbi word for "goat" is "Kazi," and the word for "red" is "Rangai," therefore Kaziranga might possibly signify the "Land of red goats (Deer)" However, other historians argue that Kazirangas name originated with the Karbi phrase Kajir-a-rong, which translates to "the village of Kajir" (kajiror gaon). Kajir is a popular name among the Karbis for a girl child, and it was formerly thought that a Kajir-named woman governed the region. This claim appears to be supported by fragments of Karbi-related monoliths that have been dispersed around the region. The Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change of the Government of India provides financial support to the park through a variety of Plan and Non-Plan Budgets. The Central Government provides additional financing for Project Elephant. Under the Technical Co-operation for Security Reinforcement programme, the World Heritage Fund provided a grant of $100,000 in 1997–1998.? National and international non-governmental organisations also provide additional funding. Its true that the park has a healthy animal population, but what makes it more well-known are the projects for wildlife conservation that are carried out there. The park has effectively increased the population of Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, an endangered species, thanks to its excellent wildlife conservation efforts. VISITOR ACTIVITIES The primary visitor activity in and around the park is observing the wildlife, notably birding. There are elephant or Jeep-powered guided tours available. In order to prevent potential human-animal confrontations, hiking is not permitted in the park. For observing animals, observation towers are located at Sohola, Mihimukh, Kathpara, Foliamari, and Harmoti. The parks scenery of trees, grass, and several ponds is framed by the Lower Himalayan ranges. In order to educate visitors about the park, an explanation centre is being built near Kazirangas Bagori range. Due to monsoon rains, the park is inaccessible to tourists from May 1 through October 31. The Department of Environment and Forests, Government of Assam, is responsible for maintaining four tourist lodges at Kohora and three tourist lodges outside the park.As a result of increased tourism, the residents in the pa
